Watching TV on iPhone in Japan


After the commercials made specific to the Japanese market, the operator Softbank seeks additional strategies to push sales of ‘iPhone. E ‘recent announcement of an accessory that will make it possible to watch TV through mobile iPhone, quite small and lightweight (weighs 80 grams) to allow easy transport, and communicating with iPhone without any physical connection, but Wi -Fi. E ‘can still connect through dock connector, and in this case will be increased battery life for iPhone.

The device is compatible with the service 1seg (which uses the standard ISDB-T, an alternative to standard digital DVB-T and DVB-H adopted here), popular in Japan and Brazil, and should ensure autonomy of 3 hours playing (with a charging time of between 3 and 4 hours). A similar device is too long for Nintendo DS.

It will be available in mid-December, and will be usable by a downloadable for free from App Store. It is not known yet about anything similar to our market, consistent with the standard used in Europe, and about the compatibility of this accessory with iPod touch. The sale price is not yet known.
